24/5 Trading offers access to the overnight trading session, which operates from 8PM to 4AM EST, Sunday through Friday. The addition of this overnight session enables trading 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. (for select stocks & ETFs)
How Does 24/5 Trading Work?
How to Place an Overnight Trade?
How are Day-Trades Affected?
Trades placed in the overnight session between 8PM and 11:59PM are marked with a trade date of T+1. Trades placed in the overnight session between 12AM and 4AM are marked with a trade date of T.
See an example below:
A trade placed on Tuesday night, between 8PM and 11:59PM will be marked with a trade date for Wednesday (T+1). A trade placed between 12AM and 4AM (Wednesday morning) will be marked with a trade date of Wednesday (T). Both orders will be settled on Thursday. Please consider this when you when you are buying and selling shares in the overnight session.
