The Aggregate Buy & Sell Orders

Opening and closing auctions mark the official start and end of the trading day. During auctions, the order book aggregates all eligible orders by price level. For buy orders, quantities are summed up to each price level. For sell orders, quantities are summed at or above each price level.

Indicative Cross Orders

The value of indicative cross orders is the number of orders that are eligible to be matched at each price level. It is the lower one of the aggregate buy orders or sell orders at each price level.

Determine the Reference Price

At the end of the auction window, the auction will run with the objective of maximizing the quantity of shares crossed, while respecting the different limits on orders.

Imbalance Side

The indicative matched quantity is based on paired orders at the reference price. The value of imbalance shares is the difference between total buy and sell orders at that price. The imbalance side indicates which side (buy or sell) has unpaired shares.

Near & Far Indicative Clearing Price

When an imbalance exists, the system searches for a crossing price to clear it or maximize matches. The near indicative clearing price uses both the auction orders and continuous market orders. It best represents where the auction will ultimately execute. Similarly, the far indicative clearing price is the crossing price that uses auction orders only.
