SoundHound AI walked into its Q3 2026 report with a hot reputation as an agentic AI pure play and a cold tape. The share price has fallen about 49% over the past three months and slipped another 3.5% today to US$4.11.
On the headline numbers, the story looks very different. Third quarter revenue came in at US$62.4 million, with management highlighting more recurring, software-style contracts as the key shift. The market focused on the latest loss per share. The more important plot twist was the pressure on non-GAAP gross margin as the company invests heavily in its platform.
Investors may appreciate the shift toward software-style revenue at SoundHound AI but may also be concerned about margin pressure and ongoing losses. Compare this situation with AI peers that have stronger fundamentals in our 41 profitable AI stocks that aren't just burning cash

The bullish story hangs on SoundHound AI turning product breadth and M&A into a larger, higher margin software engine.
"Bullish analysts expect SoundHound AI to convert rising enterprise demand for conversational and agentic AI into a much larger, higher margin revenue base as OASYS wins more large contracts and recent acquisitions broaden its reach across major industries."
Q3 brings some hard evidence. Revenue reached US$62.4 million, with management pointing to a higher mix of recurring, software style contracts after LivePerson closed. Guidance for 2026 revenue of US$250 million to US$260 million backs the idea that enterprise demand is landing. Yet non GAAP gross margin at 50.3% shows the higher margin piece of that hypothesis is still pending.

Bearish views argue that LivePerson could drain cash and delay profitability for SoundHound AI rather than strengthen it.
"The fact that LivePerson required over US$140 million of debt concessions to avoid equity wipeout suggests that integrating this stressed asset could divert resources and extend the timeline before any revenue synergies or cost savings meaningfully improve earnings."
Q3 shows both sides of that concern. Management points to at least US$120 million of annualized savings and over US$80 million already actioned. However, non GAAP gross margin sits at 50.3% and the business still reports a US$46.4 million loss. Guidance now targets adjusted EBITDA only in H2 2027, so the earnings uplift from LivePerson is not visible yet.
SoundHound AI just showed how a busy earnings print can still leave big questions about profitability. The real opportunity sits in finding stocks that could be undervalued before the crowd catches on.
