On November 6, local time, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a navigation warning telegram, authorizing a French company to carry out survey work and lay cables for the Greek-Cyprus electricity interconnection project in the relevant regions of the Eastern Mediterranean. On the same day, Cyprus also issued a navigation warning message, stating that it will carry out project survey activities within the exclusive economic zone of Serbia starting November 19, 2026. Both of these navigation warning telegrams are valid for four months. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs later issued a statement saying that a survey ship flying the French flag plans to operate in the Eastern Mediterranean to lay submarine cables for the Greek-Republic of Cyprus power interconnection project. The Turkish authorities claim that part of the operation area is within the continental shelf it claims, and raised objections to the relevant navigation notices issued by Greece and Cyprus on the same day.
