Listen to the news

Key Points

  • Q3 revenue grew 43% year over year to $391 million.

  • Figma repriced credit add-ons, increasing user utilization by 40%.

  • The company expanded its first-party AI model share to cut inference costs.

On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Nov. 4, 2026, Figma (NYSE:FIG) announced revenue of $391 million, up 43% year over year. As AI makes code easier to write, management says value is shifting toward design.

Three things management said stand out.

1. Design is the new code, says Figma's CEO

Software development is shifting as automated coding tools become widespread, placing higher strategic value on front-end design platforms.

For decades, writing code was the bottleneck of the product development process. As coding models improve, that is no longer true. Value is moving up the stack to design and demand for great design is growing.

2. Management is trading near-term growth for long-term AI adoption

To accelerate adoption of artificial intelligence features, the company increased credit allocations and introduced flexible drawdown agreements for its largest customers.

And if that means trading off near-term growth, for that long-term growth durability, we will do that.

3. First-party AI models are taking on more of the agent's work

Developing internal models trained on specialized design workflows reduces reliance on external artificial intelligence vendors. User ratings rose 33%, and users undid the agent's work 60% less often.

From the start of Q3 through October 31, we more than doubled the share of work powered by our own post-train design model. Along with third-party models, it's delivering a better experience for our users.

Looking Ahead

Usage of the company's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server expanded quickly during the quarter, driving increased platform engagement across software development teams. Expanding credit consumption and strong retention rates reinforce Figma's role in product creation.

In Q3, total MCP usage grew 3x quarter-over-quarter and writeback usage grew 4x. This reflects Figma's central place in the product development workflow and the power of working on the Canvas in a visual-first way.
-- Dylan Field, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Analysts pressed Figma on operating leverage, since the 12% non-GAAP operating margin hasn't expanded despite rapid revenue growth. Management remains focused on expanding its unified creative platform to connect human design decisions with automated workflow agents.

Those will completely flow out of our model by Q1 of '27, but there is some of that impact, especially as Q4 is a large renewal quarter for us.
-- Praveer Melwani, Chief Financial Officer
