Argentina's sovereign dollar bonds declined across the board. Affected by risk aversion in the global market, some bonds fell more than 1.5 cents per dollar in face value. Bonds maturing in 2030 and 2035 fell nearly 2 cents per dollar in face value. Bonds due in 2035, the benchmark for Argentina's sovereign risk, fell to 63.25 cents per dollar, the lowest level in many years. The sovereign balance of Argentine bonds has now surpassed 900 basis points. Analysts pointed out concerns about the future direction of the “Foreign Exchange Stabilization Fund” provided by the US to help defend the peso. Analysts at local brokerage firm Allaria wrote in a report: “Global bonds have been impacted by the US election results. Although the election results were interpreted as a possibility that the war might cool down, the higher expected risk of losing access to ESF funding placed a heavier strain on Argentina's yield curve.”
