What Cryoport Bulls Got Right Before A 96% Jump

Listen to the news

If you only glanced at Cryoport’s still loss making results, it might be hard to square the story with what happened to its share price. Holding Cryoport over the past year would have returned 95.8%, including dividends. That gain arrived even as Q2 2026 revenue of US$48.971 million and a net loss of US$10.255 million kept the business in the red. If an investor had bought on 4 November 2025, what exactly were they betting on?

Cryoport has already moved. See which of 34 high quality undervalued stocks still trade below our estimates.

The Two Stories Cryoport Investors Were Weighing Up

The shares cost US$9.22 at the start of the period, and anyone looking at Cryoport then had to decide which of two very different stories to trust.

The bullish narrative pointed to a Fair Value of US$16, a price that reflected what stronger earnings power might justify. This view was built on Cryoport’s role in cell and gene therapy logistics and an assumption that profit margins could rise toward 14.2%.

The bearish view put Fair Value at US$8. It leaned on the idea that revenue could fall 6.7% a year while tighter biopharma regulation and customer concentration kept pressure on the business.

What The Results Changed For Cryoport

The clearest new fact was Cryoport’s Q2 2026 report. Revenue was US$48.971 million versus US$45.454 million a year earlier, and the loss narrowed from US$14.014 million to US$10.255 million as net margin improved from -30.8% to -20.9%. That supported the more optimistic view of earnings quality, although continued losses meant the profit uplift in the bullish narrative had not yet materialized.

The episode turned on one key assumption: profit margin improvement mattered more than headline growth. When you assess another stock with a profitability story attached, track the movement in net margin between comparable quarters and check whether losses are shrinking in absolute terms as well as by percentage.

What Cryoport’s Price Already Assumes Today

Cryoport now trades at US$16.7, almost matching the one year Fair Value in the selected Narrative, which currently sits below the market level rather than above it.

The Narrative leans on real progress in logistics and services, yet argues that utilisation and long cycle projects still carry weight. A buyer today effectively banks on those newer platforms filling up, so the open question is how the cited utilisation risk interacts with that assumption.

"Although Cryoport is investing in integrated BioLogistics, BioStorage, BioServices and new GMP capabilities in Europe, the decision to curb capital spending as major facilities in Paris and Santa Ana come online increases the risk that these sites operate below optimal utilization if demand softens. This could weigh on gross margin and earnings."
