08:42 AM EST, 11/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- A member of the Swiss parliament's lower house is proposing a compromise that could reduce the amount of additional capital UBS Group (UBSG.SW) must hold to back its foreign units, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the proposal. The proposal would allow the Swiss lender to use more conservative valuations for its foreign subsidiaries when calculating how much extra common equity tier 1 capital it needs to have, according to the news outlet. The parliament's Economic Affairs and Taxation Committee is reportedly set to discuss the matter on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24. The development comes after the upper house in September supported a proposal that would require UBS to back its foreign units with 90% CET1 capital. UBS declined to comment, while the Swiss Economic Affairs and Taxation Committee did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
