The Technology industry group will be expanded from 2 to 4 sectors to accommodate the growing diversity of digital businesses, covering Electronic Components, Digital Infrastructure & Telecommunication, Technology Services & Solutions, and Technology Products & Digital Platform. Concurrently, the Resources industry group will be renamed "Energy & Utilities", comprising two sectors: Oil, Gas & Fuels; and Power & Utilities. Both changes take effect on March 1, 2027. SET Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Markets Officer Soravis Krairiksh stated that Thailand's capital market technology sector has evolved and grown rapidly, expanding from infrastructure to devices, software, digital platforms, and AI, but the existing classification has not kept pace with this diversity. The new sector classification will give investors a clearer view and understanding of listed companies in the technology group, allow them to screen and compare Thai stocks with companies in the same sector on leading regional exchanges, and enable analysts to evaluate companies against their sector peers more appropriately. The new structure also prepares for listed companies operating under emerging business models and supports the future development of investment products such as thematic funds and sector ETFs. The changes have been developed in consultation with, and with the support of, capital market stakeholders. This structural upgrade is aligned with SET's missions of 'Empowering Market Participants' and 'Trusted Marketplace', reinforcing the exchange's commitment to strengthening market participant capabilities and developing Thailand's capital market to be credible and internationally competitive. Technology Industry Group: New Structure The Technology (TECH) industry group will be reorganised into 4 sectors to more accurately reflect the primary revenue characteristics of listed companies (previously 2 sectors: ETRON and ICT): 1. Electronic Components (ETRON): (retained) Manufacturers, designers, and distributors of electronic components, including semiconductors, integrated circuits (ICs/chips), and related products. 2. Digital Infrastructure & Telecommunication (DINFRA): Providers of communications infrastructure, network systems, connectivity equipment, and digital data transmission, processing, or storage services. 3. Technology Services & Solutions (TECHSS): Providers of hardware and/or software technology services, including system integration, outsourcing and managed services, maintenance, and technical support. 4. Technology Products & Digital Platform (TECHDP): Companies holding intellectual property in products and/or digital services, including software delivered as a service (SaaS), platforms, artificial intelligence (AI), and financial technology (FinTech). Energy & Utilities Industry Group: Renamed and Restructured The Resources (RESOURC) industry group will be renamed Energy & Utilities (ENERGY) to better reflect contemporary business models, and organised into 2 sectors: 1. Oil, Gas & Fuels (FUEL): Companies engaged in the production, exploration, drilling, refining, transport, storage and distribution of oil, natural gas and other fuels. 2. Power & Utilities (POWERUT): Producers and distributors of electricity and water, and providers of public utility services. The Mining (MINE) sector will be discontinued, as no listed companies currently operate in it. Following the restructuring, listed companies will be classified into 8 industry groups and 30 sectors. SET intends to conduct periodic reviews of listed companies' industry classifications to ensure alignment with evolving business landscapes in the capital market. Investors can view the updated industry group and sector list on www.set.or.th from February 2027, before the new structure becomes effective on March 1, 2027.
