Corcept’s third quarter saw revenue growth and profitability that surpassed Wall Street expectations, but the market reacted negatively following the call. Management attributed the strong financial results to accelerating adoption of Lifyorli in ovarian cancer and continued growth in its endocrinology segment, particularly with Korlym and its authorized generic. CEO Joe Belanoff highlighted that Lifyorli’s rapid physician adoption was enabled by its mechanism of action and convenient oral administration, while the endocrinology business benefited from increasing awareness of hypercortisolism, supported by recent clinical findings and updated medical guidelines.
Looking forward, Corcept’s guidance is anchored by the expected continued uptake of Lifyorli and the potential launch of relacorilant for Cushing’s syndrome, pending regulatory decisions. Management pointed to upcoming pivotal trial readouts in oncology and liver disease, as well as growing medical community support for broader screening and treatment of hypercortisolism. President of Endocrinology Justin Gunn stated, “As ADA and AACE recommendations are incorporated, more patients will be screened, diagnosed, and treated, expanding our market.”
Management cited Lifyorli’s accelerating adoption, new clinical guidelines for hypercortisolism, and a broadened late-stage pipeline as primary contributors to the quarter’s performance and future outlook.
Corcept’s forward outlook centers on continued Lifyorli growth, expanded endocrinology screening, and pivotal pipeline readouts, while monitoring for regulatory outcomes and competitive developments.
In the next several quarters, our team will track (1) the FDA decision on relacorilant for Cushing’s syndrome, (2) pivotal trial readouts for relacorilant in ovarian, pancreatic, and endometrial cancer, as well as miricorilant in MASH, and (3) the integration of new screening guidelines for hypercortisolism into clinical practice. Progress in ALS and immunotherapy combination studies will also be important indicators of pipeline value.
Corcept currently trades at $79.63, down from $81.93 just before the earnings. At this price, is it a buy or sell? Find out in our full research report (it’s free).
