01:45 AM EST, 11/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Solvay (SOLB.BR) signed a long-term agreement with Viridis Mining and Minerals to secure mixed rare earth feedstock for its processing facility in La Rochelle, France. The chemical company said Wednesday that shipments are expected to start in 2028, with the initial supply agreement running through 2034. The feedstock contains key rare earths used in permanent magnets, including neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium. The minimum committed volumes of the four elements represent 70% of the Colossus project's anticipated production capacity during the initial term. Solvay also holds a right of first offer on the remaining output. Under a separate contemplated agreement, Solvay would license technology and provide technical support to Viridis to produce upgraded rare earth carbonate at its Colossus project in Brazil for supply to the La Rochelle facility.
