Thai Finance Minister Ekneity Nititanpakosa said that Thailand will not raise the upper limit of public debt, and it is reasonable to currently set an upper limit of 70% of GDP. Speaking at an economic forum on Wednesday, Ekniti said his mission is to reduce the share of public debt in GDP and adhere to fiscal discipline. Note: As of the end of September, Thailand's public debt as a share of GDP was 68.6%. The government plans to use some of the remaining funds from a 200 billion baht loan program to incentivize the transportation sector to switch to more environmentally friendly fuels.
