Tower Semiconductor (NasdaqGS:TSEM) Stock Jumps On Record Q3 Earnings Surge

Simply Wall St·11/04/2026 00:40:37
Listen to the news

Tower Semiconductor came into this Q3 2026 earnings print with a stretched story. The stock had slipped over the past month yet still carried a rich 52x trailing P/E and a share price far above a cash flow value estimate of US$28.58. Then the release hit and the market snapped back, with the stock jumping 4.98% to about US$163.

The hook is simple. Record Q3 revenue of US$526.2 million and net income of US$120.3 million pointed directly to the strongest positive trend in this story, the profit engine behind Tower Semiconductor’s foundry model.

Tower Semiconductor’s AI Upside Put To Work

The bullish story hinges on SiPho and SiGe turning long term contracts into a durable earnings engine.

"Silicon photonics and silicon germanium are already meaningful, with 2025 revenues of US$421 million and SiPho alone at US$228 million, and customer demand has been strong enough for Tower to commit US$920 million of CapEx and secure capacity reservation agreements through 2028."

Q3 2026 shows that ambition gaining traction. Record revenue, a 19.4% trailing net margin, and roughly US$240 million of SiPho sales signal that committed capital is translating into higher quality mix instead of idle capacity.

Stress Testing Tower’s Utilization And CapEx Risk

The bear case argues that Tower Semiconductor might overbuild for AI and end up with half empty fabs.

"The revised financial model depends on all Tower owned fabs operating at 85% utilization by 2028. Any slowdown in AI related optical or RF infrastructure orders, delays in customer qualifications, or weaker uptake in co packaged optics could leave fixed costs under absorbed and compress operating margins versus the target model."

Current data points cut against that concern. Management reports 200mm lines at roughly 85% to 90% utilization and 300mm above the 85% target, while operating profit more than doubled year over year, suggesting fixed costs are being absorbed rather than dragging margins.

Hunt For Mispriced AI Winners

Tower Semiconductor just showed how fast sentiment can reset when earnings and capacity align. The real opportunity is spotting stocks that could be undervalued before new information prompts a broad reassessment.

  • Company 1 - 33% below our estimate - turns data center GPU dominance and a sticky AI software stack into sustained rack-scale demand from hyperscale infrastructure buyers.
  • Company 2 - 25% below our estimate - leans into AI data center optics as new manufacturing lines focus on higher value photonics and advanced packaging programs for specialized workloads.
  • Company 3 - 29% below our estimate - scales a low cost digital bank where rising customer counts and ARPAC expansion support a highly efficient, technology-driven earnings model.
