The Oakland, California-based company said it had profit of 92 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.13 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.02 per share.

The mobile payments services provider posted revenue of $6.72 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.62 billion.

For the current quarter ending in December, Block expects its per-share earnings to be $1.15.

The company expects full-year earnings to be $4.15 per share.
