Singapore's Minister of Sustainable Development and Environment Fu Haiyan said on the 3rd that Singapore will promote the implementation of the “ASEAN Cross-border Haze Pollution Agreement” during the ASEAN Presidency in 2027, and work with other member states to promote the establishment of an ASEAN Cross-border Haze Pollution Prevention and Control Coordination Center in Indonesia. Fu Haiyan discussed the above plan in the National Assembly on the same day in response to questions from members of parliament. She said that some ASEAN member states said they will raise cross-border smog issues at regional meetings. “Singapore supports these discussions and will share how the New Zealand side plans to hold companies responsible for the haze to account.” At the same time, Singapore is committed to promoting the establishment of a coordination center in Indonesia to strengthen cooperation and coordination in forest fire control and cross-border smog control. Fu Haiyan said that in the next few days, the Singapore government will submit an approval letter to ASEAN agreeing to establish a coordination center, and the New Zealand side “strongly suggests” that other ASEAN countries do the same.
