Missed AI’s "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 15x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our analysts, we’re only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »

There's a lot less room for this AI stock to run in one firm's eyes

Maintaining a buy rating, UBS cut its price target on Cerebras Systems about 24% to $250 from $330.

Based on Cerebras's closing price of $109.18 on Friday, the new UBS price target implies 129% upside.

While the new price target is less bullish, UBS recognizes OpenAI-related colocation demand, shipments of the company's CS-4 AI accelerator, and broader adoption through Amazon's cloud platform, Amazon Web Services, as factors that could propel the stock higher, according to Thefly.com.

Should investors load up on Cerebras shares following its pullback?

Cerebras stock has had a rough go of it over the past few days. In addition to the recent price target cut from UBS, the stock was the subject of a critical report from Culper Research, which announced a short position in the AI stock, alleging that the company's wafers break down after only a couple of years of use.

When learning of firms' stances on stocks, investors must always remember that these are merely opinions -- not guarantees that the stocks will prosper or flounder. Instead of the UBS price target, investors should therefore pay close attention to the company's third-quarter financial results presentation, expected on Nov. 12 after the market closes, to gain better insight into the company's financial well-being. In the meantime, though, those interested in AI stocks have plenty of other choices to consider.
