Listen to the news

While it’s been a great week for Torrid Holdings Inc. (NYSE:CURV) shareholders after stock gained 22%, company insiders might have missed out on those gains after selling stock earlier this year. They could have sold their shares at much higher prices and gotten a better return on their investment if they had waited.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Torrid Holdings

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Executive Vice President, Paula Dempsey, for US$88k worth of shares, at about US$2.06 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$2.44). As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. We note that the biggest single sale was 72% of Paula Dempsey's holding.

In the last year Torrid Holdings insiders didn't buy any company stock. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!
