Samsung Electronics has decided to completely withdraw from the 8-inch wafer foundry business. The company recently notified customers that it plans to shut down all related production lines by the end of 2030. Previously, Samsung Electronics had only stated that it would gradually reduce the 8-inch production line. This is the first time that it has clearly proposed a specific schedule for exiting the business. Afterwards, the company plans to focus investment in manpower and equipment on advanced manufacturing processes based on 12-inch wafers.
