12:27 AM EST, 11/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Central Bank of the UAE imposed a 200 million-Emirati-dirham fine on an unnamed foreign bank's local branch over repeated regulatory violations, according to an Oct. 30 release. The penalty followed evaluations that uncovered "significant" deficiencies in the bank's anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism and illegal organizations, governance and compliance management, and sanctions framework. The regulator also fined the bank's chief executive officer 500,000 dirhams and its head of compliance and money laundering reporting officer 300,000 dirhams for failing to fulfill their responsibilities.
