Listen to the news

Key Points

  • NovoCure generated record third-quarter net revenue of $193 million.

  • Active glioblastoma patients grew 11% year over year to 4,730.

  • Full-year net revenue guidance increased to $736 million to $743 million.

On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 29, 2026, NovoCure (NASDAQ:NVCR) announced record quarterly net revenue of $193 million and raised its full-year top-line guidance. The oncology device maker is nearing sustained profitability as patient adoption expands across core markets. Three things management said stand out.

1. Core Brain Cancer Business Reaches Record Patient Counts While Fueling Profitability

Adoption of Optune Gio for glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, pushed third-quarter net revenue up 16% year over year while delivering $16 million in adjusted EBITDA, which measures earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization, and share-based compensation.

Achieving adjusted EBITDA positivity this year is an important first step in the profitability journey. And we look forward to updating you on our progress and future objectives in the coming months.
-- Christoph Brackmann, Chief Financial Officer

2. Japan Expansion Positions Country as Second Largest Market Behind United States

Commercial expansion in Japan for Optune Lua, a non-small cell lung cancer treatment, generated $4 million in third-quarter net revenue with monthly reimbursement pricing matching established global levels.

Together with our growing Optune Gio business, we expect Japan will eventually be our second largest market behind the U.S.
-- Frank Leonard, Chief Executive Officer

3. Pancreatic Cancer Launch Faces Access Obstacles From Competing Drug Disruption

Prescribing growth slowed for Optune Pax in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, a form of pancreatic cancer, because clinical practices became overburdened with insurance appeals and side-effect management for a new competing drug, diraxonrasib.

We have seen momentum slow in the U.S. due to the introduction of diraxonrasib. Our ability to access practices to detail OptunePax is significantly limited at this time.

Looking Ahead

Commercial momentum across core markets is driving a revised full-year revenue guidance range of $736 million to $743 million. NovoCure is maintaining pricing discipline and operating efficiency as major launch infrastructure spending winds down.

The investments necessary to launch new indications and support larger patient populations have largely been made. As we continue to gain traction across our commercial portfolio, we believe there is significant P&L leverage to be realized.
-- Christoph Brackmann, Chief Financial Officer

Sustained execution of upcoming regulatory decisions and international launches underpins management's growth expectations heading into 2027.

As we enter the final months of the year, we are on track to achieve our 2026 goals, and we believe we are well positioned to drive this positive momentum into 2027.
