Riskified’s latest product reveal, Agent Identity Risk Intelligence for Shopify merchants, shows how quickly AI driven fraud prevention is evolving. Holding Riskified from the start of the year would have returned 78.2%, including dividends. If you were weighing a purchase back on 1 January 2026, you had to decide whether expanding products, bullish and bearish analyst targets, and still negative earnings justified that outcome. Which of those ingredients really needed to be true?
A Narrative on Simply Wall St is one investor's written case for a company, with its growth, margin and multiple assumptions spelled out. Those assumptions imply an estimated Fair Value.
The move put Riskified in the middle of this trade. Scan 54 AI infrastructure stocks for other companies exposed to it.
The shares cost US$4.97 at the start of the period, which put you between two sharply different stories about where Riskified might be heading.
On the optimistic side, the bullish Narrative pinned Fair Value at US$7.9 and leaned on revenue growth of 10.1% a year with profit margins turning from a loss to 6.9%. This assumed the business could use its AI driven fraud tools to secure multi product adoption and stickier, long contracts.
The bearish case instead put Fair Value at US$4.5 and still assumed 9.0% annual revenue growth with margins reaching 4.1%. It warned that tighter GDPR and CCPA rules could limit the data that powers Riskified’s fraud models and threaten both client retention and future demand.
Riskified’s launch of Agent Identity Risk Intelligence for Shopify merchants backed the optimistic view that product expansion into agent focused fraud tools could support multi product adoption. The latest figures pulled the other way. Revenue reached US$98.7m and the company still reported a loss of US$9.1m with a net margin of -9.2%, so the profitability assumptions stayed unproven. Overall, the evidence cut both ways.
The episode turned on one bet: that new products would translate into positive earnings, not just higher sales. When you look at another stock with a big story around AI tools, track whether net profit and margin move into the black, not just whether revenue rises.
Riskified now trades at US$8.57 from the start of the year, and the selected Narrative’s Fair Value sits below that level. The assessment leans on rising transaction volumes, cost control and capital returns, while questioning whether chargebacks and mix shifts cap the benefit.
A buyer today is effectively assuming that higher volumes and new products feed into sturdier margins and earnings. The selected Narrative asks how that holds up if privacy rules tighten and ticketing or other lower margin flows keep offsetting gross profit.
"Although Riskified is benefiting from a more complex fraud environment and rising volumes across cards, ACH and digital wallets, the recent decline in non-GAAP gross margin to 46% in Q2 2026, partly due to higher chargebacks, suggests that incremental transaction growth could continue to translate into weaker unit economics and pressure overall net margins."
