ZOZO walked into this Q2 2027 earnings print with the stock essentially flat over three months and trading on a premium 20.7x P/E, priced as a high-quality fashion platform rather than a deep value play. The headline this quarter is firm profit resilience. Net income reached ¥9,856m and adjusted EBITDA touched ¥34.6b with the margin holding near 11.2%, even as reported gross merchandise value barely shifted on the surface.
The market now has to decide whether the recent 7 day share price decline is a level headed response to softer headline growth or a short term overreaction to noise in quarterly fashion demand.

ZOZO says rich fashion data and AI agents give it an edge. Ask Charlie what ZOZO’s AI push really changes for shoppers.
Supporters argue ZOZO can lean on logistics automation and AI led engagement to get more profit out of every shopper, not just chase bigger baskets.
"Bullish analysts expect ZOZO to convert logistics automation, AI-driven services like niau and niaulab, and LYST’s new checkout into higher operating efficiency and more engagement from a larger global buyer base."
Q2 results partly line up with that script. Adjusted EBITDA grew while the margin stayed around 11.2% and SG&A as a share of GMV edged lower, helped by logistics savings. Annual buyers inched up to 13.5m and LINE and Yahoo Commerce outperformed. LYST checkout adoption, though, is behind schedule, so the global element of the story has not cleared its hurdle yet.

Put the bearish view to the test. Critics argue ZOZO is leaning too hard on campaigns and discounts while the logistics savings story could stall.
"Although higher web advertising spend and AI based styling tools are currently helping ZOZOTOWN add buyers, the rise in promotion related expenses to 4.5% of GMV and the need for frequent free shipping campaigns point to a user growth model that may require structurally higher marketing intensity."
Latest numbers partly back that concern. Promotional outlay reached 5.0% of GMV in Q2 and is guided to about 4.8% for the year. Yet adjusted EBITDA margin stayed near 11.2% as logistics efficiencies and better delivery terms offset that heavier spend, so profitability has not cracked but depends more on execution.
ZOZO just reminded investors that earnings resilience and share price moves do not always line up neatly. Real upside could sit in companies that could be undervalued before sentiment catches up.
