On October 29, the first batch of artificial intelligence models for extreme weather from Fengyun Meteorological Satellite was officially released at the 2026 Fengyun Satellite User Conference, promoting Fengyun satellite applications from “seeing the present clearly” to “predicting the future”. The typhoon intelligent cloud map interpretation model released this time integrates the Fengyun satellite multi-channel cloud map and related products to automatically analyze the location, structure, intensity and evolution trends of the typhoon and generate interpretation text. At present, the model has developed a comprehensive interpretation capability covering 7 types of typhoon characteristics and incorporating more than 20 kinds of live satellite products. The interpretation is carried out every 15 minutes, and it only takes 27 seconds to generate the interpreted text. Take Typhoon No. 26 of this year, “Shuliki” as an example. After the model automatically identified the typhoon, it carried out a comprehensive analysis of intensity, wind circle radius, precipitation characteristics, etc., to provide support for monitoring and forecasting.
