Aker Solutions walked into Q3 on the back of a weak tape, with the share price down about 13% over the past month and 12% over ninety days, and closed at NOK36.70 just as the numbers hit. The headline from this quarter is not a small miss. The group swung from a profit in Q2 to a net loss of NOK 970m in Q3 2026, with basic EPS dropping into negative territory and reported revenue for the period turning into a loss figure.
That kind of margin and earnings squeeze can rattle short term holders. For anyone thinking in multi year terms, the bigger question is how this quarterly hit sits against the valuation gap, the cash generative track record over the last year and the forecast pressure on future revenue and profit that is already baked into many models.

The bullish storyline says Aker Solutions will turn contract mix and SLB OneSubsea into a dependable cash engine.
"The main factor is that Aker Solutions continues to convert its large Life Cycle and energy transition backlog, SLB OneSubsea dividends and low capex into sustained free cash flow while managing execution and safety risks on complex projects."
Q3 hits some of that script. Life Cycle revenue of NOK 3.6b sits within a NOK 40b backlog, underlying EBITDA margin is 9.6%, capex guidance for 2026 is about 0.5% of revenue and net cash is NOK 5.8b. SLB OneSubsea delivered quarterly dividends of NOK 137m. At the same time, a reported loss and continued drag from legacy offshore wind show that smooth, sustained cash generation is not yet locked in.

The sceptical view says Aker Solutions’ transition projects could repeat old renewables pain and keep margins and cash conversion under pressure.
"However, execution or pricing slippage on these newer scopes could repeat the profitability drag seen in earlier lump sum renewables projects and weigh on net margins."
Q3 results give that concern some bite. Legacy offshore wind still drags Renewable & Field Development margins and contributed to the reported net loss, so the past issues are not cleared. Life Cycle and SLB OneSubsea cash help offset this, yet the guided working capital reversal toward negative NOK 4–6b points to future periods where accounting profit may again run ahead of cash.
A sharp swing into losses puts Aker Solutions’ cash story under closer scrutiny. The real opportunity could sit in stocks that look mispriced before the market closes that gap.
