REDMOND, Wash. (AP) — REDMOND, Wash. (AP) — Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) on Wednesday reported fiscal first-quarter profit of $36.63 billion.

On a per-share basis, the Redmond, Washington-based company said it had net income of $4.92. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $4.89 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 14 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.71 per share.

The software maker posted revenue of $92.28 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Thirteen analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $90.58 billion.
