12:49 PM EDT, 10/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Germany's blue-chip DAX index ended Wednesday's trading 0.42% in the green, as investors digested downbeat domestic consumer sentiment data alongside the latest flurry of earnings reports and corporate updates. German consumer sentiment is anticipated to deteriorate in November, with the GfK consumer climate indicator falling to -30.8 points from -30.6 points in October. The reading missed the market forecast of -30.1 points. "Although consumers are increasingly optimistic about economic developments, skepticism continues to prevail when it comes to their own wallets. Growing inflation concerns and subdued income prospects are dampening the willingness to buy, even as the willingness to save is declining moderately," Nuremberg Institute for Market Decisions Head of Consumer Climate Rolf Bürkl said. "Even the gas rebate does not seem to be providing the relief that was hoped for. The hope for an economic upswing is there, but the willingness to buy has not yet followed suit." On the corporate side, Deutsche Bank (DBK.F) rose 3.95%, climbing to the top of the DAX, after reporting better-than-expected third-quarter results that support the German lender's goal of achieving a full-year 2026 revenue target of above 33 billion euros. "Operational trends were reassuring especially the pick-up in Corporate Banking revenue growth and delivering in the IB while some peers missed. Loan loss trends and guidance point to higher levels than factored into consensus," RBC Capital Markets wrote in a quick take report. Conversely, Symrise's (SY1.F) stock slid 9.81% after the company flagged an expected sequential slowdown in fourth-quarter growth against higher prior-year comparables. The German flavor and fragrance maker posted an increase in third-quarter sales to 1.31 billion euros from 1.22 billion euros and beat expectations with 5.3% organic growth. In geopolitical news, Washington warned several Gulf states to prepare for a potential US military operation against Iran after the midterm elections, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people briefed on conversations. Concurrently, Reuters reported that Qatari mediators offered Tehran a new draft peace deal proposing a seven-day, step-by-step framework to end hostilities with the US and Israel. According to an official briefed on the negotiations, Iran is expected to deliver its response to the proposal by the end of the week.
