Glacier Bancorp: 3 Key Takeaways for Long-Term Investors

Listen to the news

Key Points

  • Glacier Bancorp generated $105 million in net income during the quarter.

  • Noninterest-bearing deposits increased $279 million to $7.7 billion.

  • Board members increased the quarterly dividend by $0.02 to $0.35 per share.

On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 23, 2026, Glacier Bancorp (NYSE:GBCI) reported record quarterly net income of $105 million. Higher yields on new loans and expanding profit margins are compounding earnings power across its regional footprint.

Three things management said stand out.

1. Asset Repricing Drives Net Interest Margin Expansion

Net interest margin, which measures profitability on lending, surpassed 4% as maturing loans and securities rolled into higher market yields. About $3.5 billion in loans will reprice higher over the coming year to sustain this momentum.

Loan repricing, approximately $3.5 billion of loans currently in portfolio will reprice up 125 to 150 basis points in the next 12 months.
-- Byron Pollan, Deputy CFO and Treasurer

2. Noninterest-Bearing Deposits Lower Overall Funding Costs

Noninterest-bearing deposits, which are checking accounts that pay zero interest, grew at a 15% annualized rate. This core deposit growth allowed the bank to fund loan expansion while trimming overall deposit costs.

And the real highlight this quarter was our growth in our noninterest-bearing balances. That was fantastic.
-- Byron Pollan, Deputy CFO and Treasurer

3. Accumulating Capital Opens Opportunities for Buybacks

Accelerating net income is building capital reserves beyond immediate operating needs. Management is evaluating share repurchases and special dividends, which return cash to shareholders, to optimize its balance sheet.

So all -- we are really now going to take a look at all options, including special dividends and share buybacks because of the amount of capital we see accumulating, and we really just want to make sure we have all levers available to us.
-- Randall Chesler, President and CEO

Looking Ahead

Net interest income is building momentum as fixed-rate assets reprice higher, and management isn't hiding its satisfaction about it. Strong core deposit growth and expanding margins give the bank structural funding advantages across its Western markets. Leadership is watching deposit costs and asset yields closely.

So we do have some meaningful momentum on the asset repricing, and that's going to carry us through with increasing margins through '27.
-- Byron Pollan, Deputy CFO and Treasurer

Disciplined underwriting and community relationships position the bank for sustained earnings power. Expanding capital reserves will support future growth and shareholder returns.

We are very encouraged by our results for the third quarter and through the first 9 months of the year.
-- Randall Chesler, President and CEO
