Masdar to Acquire Over 550-MW Solar Project in Greece

01:14 AM EDT, 10/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Abu Dhabi Future Energy Co., d/b/a Masdar, agreed to acquire a major solar project in Greece from Lightsource. The project, with a planned capacity of more than 550 megawatts, is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 200,000 homes annually once operational by the end of 2026, according to an Oct. 24 release. The renewable energy company, jointly owned by Abu Dhabi National Energy (ADX:TAQA), d/b/a Taqa, Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., d/b/a ADNOC, and Mubadala Investment, also plans to integrate battery storage into the project to improve grid stability. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, with completion expected by the end of 2026.
