Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-rong recently visited the UAE. The region is currently in a geographically tense environment close to wartime. Analysts say the trip will accelerate Samsung Group's business in the Middle East, covering the supply of advanced chips for the construction and operation of artificial intelligence data centers, as well as the expansion of combined cycle power plant projects. This is Lee Jae-rong's first visit to the Middle East in nearly a year. The first stop on his trip was to inspect the Aldafara gas power plant project. The project was won by a consortium formed by Samsung C&T and the UAE builder Troy General Contracting Company, with a total investment of 1.35 billion US dollars, and is scheduled to be put into operation next year. After completion, the Aldafara power plant can supply about 1 GW of electricity to the AI data center, and is the core infrastructure of the UAE's national “AI transformation” strategy. Lee Jae-rong has established strong contacts with senior UAE officials. The industry expects him to advance business, win orders, and implement investments in the current complex environment, which is almost wartime.
