Simply Wall St·10/24/2026 01:29:55
Listen to the news

Trelleborg hit fresh Q3 2026 records on almost every industrial scorecard just as the share price has been drifting, with the stock down about 4% over the past week and slightly lower over the past month. While traders focused on recent softness, the group quietly printed all time high quarterly sales of SEK 9.232b and its strongest ever EBITA margin at 19.3%.

Short term screens flag a tired chart. Longer term holders are staring at record profitability, a trailing P/E of 25.1x and a discounted cash flow value that sits well above today’s SEK 450.4 price.

Trelleborg bull case: high spec mix under the microscope

The bullish story hangs on Trelleborg converting high spec focus into structurally richer earnings power.

"Continued growth in high-spec sealing for aerospace and semiconductor customers, supported by recent double digit organic growth in these areas and investments in dedicated capacity in multiple regions, can provide a further lift to group revenue and EBITA."

Q3 backs this up. Sealing Solutions organic sales rose 9% with record group EBITA and a 19.3% margin, helped by aerospace and semiconductor demand and mix. Capacity investments, including planned semiconductor related expansion in China, appear to be translating into both volume and profitability milestones rather than just higher cost.

Trelleborg bear case: auto and acquisition drag stress test

The bear story argues that legacy exposures and deals could quietly cap progress.

"Previous communication flagged that ongoing integration of acquisitions was diluting margins in Sealing Solutions and the latest figures show this segment already operating with an EBITA margin of 22.5% and an ambition of 23% over the cycle, so if acquired units fail to reach these levels despite strong group performance, it could cap future margin expansion and earnings growth compared with what the current valuation implies."

Q3 shows the opposite pattern. Sealing Solutions delivered strong margin expansion alongside 9% organic growth, while group EBITA improved 16%. Recent bolt ons in sealing and aerospace did not prevent a record 19.3% group margin. This points to integration progress rather than ongoing dilution in this period.
