China Automobile Association: Sales of Chinese brand passenger cars totaled 1.96 million vehicles in September, up 7.7% month-on-month

The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to statistical analysis by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in September 2026, a total of 1.96 million passenger cars of Chinese brands were sold, up 7.7% from the previous month, down 0.6% from the previous year, accounting for 77.1% of total passenger car sales. Sales increased 6.9 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

From January to September 2026, Chinese brand passenger cars sold a total of 14.743 million units, an increase of 0.6% over the previous year, accounting for 73.9% of total passenger car sales, accounting for an increase of 4.9 percentage points over the same period last year.
