Getinge just reported Q3 2026 and the headline is clear. Profitability looks stronger while the share price barely flinched. The stock closed at SEK264.90 on 21 October, capping a 90 day gain of about 15.6%. Yet the latest move felt more like a shrug than a verdict.
The real action is in margins. Adjusted EBITA reached SEK1,278m on SEK8,446m of sales, pointing to a healthier earnings engine in a capital intensive medtech business where pricing power and product mix quietly decide the long term winners.

The bullish story hangs on recurring revenue and a cleaner cost base doing the heavy lifting for margins.
"A higher share of recurring and high margin revenue, with around two thirds of sales now recurring and 70% coming from products like ECLS, consumables, infection control and Sterile Transfer, gives Getinge more predictable cash generation that can support earnings quality and net margins."
Q3 supports that claim. Organic sales and order intake grew modestly while adjusted EBITA margin reached 15.1% and the rolling 12 month margin is 15.6%. Mix helped, with high margin consumables and services in Acute Care Therapies and Surgical Workflows doing more of the work alongside pricing and productivity.
The bear case focuses on external pressure from tariffs and China eroding the same margin story that excites bulls.
"Intensifying global tariffs, particularly between the EU, US and China, are still adding direct costs on top of the already cited SEK 110 million in one quarter. Recent margin progress has also benefited from a one off tariff refund."
Q3 shows both sides of that worry. Adjusted EBITA margin improved and benefited from SEK45m of tariff refunds, alongside SEK381m across Q2 and Q3. That is not repeatable support. Management still flags tariffs and geopolitical issues as headwinds, and Life Science capital equipment plus China and Surgical Workflows remain challenging, so a portion of recent margin strength is clearly non structural.
