Listen to the news

The recent 10% drop in EuroEyes International Eye Clinic Limited's (HKG:1846) stock could come as a blow to insiders who purchased HK$2.08m worth of stock at an average buy price of HK$2.60 over the past 12 months. This is not good as insiders invest based on expectations that their money will appreciate over time. However, as a result of recent losses, their original investment is now worth only HK$1.83m.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At EuroEyes International Eye Clinic

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Founder Jörn Jörgensen for HK$2.1m worth of shares, at about HK$2.60 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of HK$2.29. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is encouraging to see an insider paid above the current price for shares, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Jörn Jörgensen.
