Tele2 just dropped its Q3 2026 scorecard and the first thing traders saw was cash. The stock closed at SEK161.05 on the day of the release, with the market weighing solid profitability against familiar concerns about debt and future earnings pressure.
The headline this quarter is cash generation. Equity free cash flow hit SEK2.3b in Q3 and SEK6.7b over the last twelve months, while net profit margins on a trailing basis sat at 33.8%. Short term emotion is fixated on what might go wrong next. The report itself leans heavily on what is still going right in the core telecom engine.

Earnings tell part of Tele2's story, but investors who care about what they are paying tend to focus on the cash flowing through the business over time. Based on Tele2's cash generation alone, the stock could be a dramatic 42% undervalued.
The bullish story hangs on Tele2 turning cost work, IoT and the Baltics into lasting earnings quality, not just a one off lift.
"The Baltic operations, which combine mid single digit end user service revenue growth, double digit underlying EBITDAaL growth and around 80% cash conversion, provide a platform for Tele2 to shift group earnings and cash flow weight toward a higher margin cluster that is not yet fully reflected in wider expectations."
Q3 puts some points on the board. Baltic end user service revenue grew 6% organically, underlying EBITDAaL rose 9% and cash conversion sat around 80% on a last twelve month basis. Group organic EBITDAaL growth of 3% and record SEK2.3b equity free cash flow show that Baltic high margin cash is now a visible contributor, not just an aspirational pillar of the thesis.

Bearish commentary argues Tele2 will eventually have to sacrifice Swedish profitability to keep volumes in a tougher broadband and low end mobile arena.
"While Sweden benefits from a premium 5G and fixed network with wide coverage and new spectrum, persistent aggressive pricing in Swedish open fiber and low end mobile means Tele2 may be forced to trade network quality for discounts."
Q3 does not fully back that worry. Swedish broadband revenue fell 3% and prepaid softened, yet mobile postpaid and business services grew and group organic EBITDAaL still rose 3%, with guidance tightened to 4 to 5% growth rather than cut outright.
Tele2 illustrates how strong cash generation can sit alongside uncertainty about future earnings power. The real opportunity may be in stocks where similar cash profiles are not yet fully reflected in valuations.
