Micron Stock Moves Higher: What's Going On?

Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU) shares are climbing Tuesday. Cantor Fitzgerald sees continued upside, pointing to tight supply, higher-priced contracts and a coming buyback. Here’s what you should know.

Cantor Fitzgerald Reiterates Overweight On Micron

Cantor Fitzgerald analyst C.J. Muse reiterated an Overweight rating on Micron and maintained the price target at $2,000.

Muse’s note draws on Micron’s recent comments to investors. Shortages are not going away soon, Micron told investors. Micron projects an even tighter 2027 than 2026, with the crunch extending through 2028. Buyers have drawn their stockpiles down to nearly nothing, so Micron expects no fast easing.

Micron has signed 16 SCAs, and 14 of them carry pricing metrics. If those contracts reach their potential, they could account for 50% of revenue. The share was 25% in the May quarter and 35% in the August quarter, the analyst said.

Higher prices are already showing up: recent contracts carry them, and agreements still to come will track current market rates. The Micron analyst also touched on the roughly $35 billion share repurchase the company recently approved. Muse expects meaningful buying to start on Dec. 9, which could help carry shares higher.

MU Shares Are Rising

MU Price Action: Micron shares were up 0.97% at $913.65 at the time of publication on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro.

Micron is trading above its 200-day moving average but below its 20-day and 50-day moving averages, leaving the longer-term trend structure up even as the stock sits below shorter-term trend lines. The stock is trading between support near $902.50 and resistance near $1,042.50.
