Key Points

  • The AI infrastructure build-out has captured the attention and capital of professional and everyday investors alike.

  • A member of the trillion-dollar club is ideally positioned to benefit from the AI infrastructure build-out over the next three to five years.

  • Meanwhile, an agentic AI pioneer is delivering record sales and demonstrating plenty of promise, but it still has a lot to prove.

Investors have been waiting decades for Wall Street's next "internet" moment. The evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) has answered the call. Empowering software and systems with the tools needed to make autonomous decisions is a multitrillion-dollar global opportunity -- and this fact isn't lost on Wall Street professionals.

While most analysts have a positive long-term view on the AI infrastructure build-out, some Wall Street professionals are forecasting truly game-changing returns for select AI pioneers. According to select Wall Street analysts, Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) and SoundHound AI (NASDAQ:SOUN) offer investors up to 324% upside from their Oct. 16 close.

Micron Technology: Implied upside of 241%

Don't be fooled by memory and storage solutions titan Micron Technology entering the trillion-dollar club this year. According to D.A. Davidson's Gil Luria, Micron could realistically blow past the $3 trillion valuation plateau.

Recently, Luria upped his firm's 12-month price target for Micron to a Street-high $3,000 per share, representing upside of 241%! Luria's outsize optimism stems from Micron's long runway of opportunity as a supplier of high-bandwidth memory (HBM). HBM is stacked with graphics processing units in AI-accelerated data centers, enabling rapid data transfers.

In an interview on CNBC's Squawk on the Street, Luria compared the premium investors have willingly paid for central processing unit makers, such as Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD), to Micron's estimated price-to-earnings ratio for fiscal 2027 of just 5. Luria believes Micron has a three-to-five-year runway of exceptional growth prospects fueled by its HBM products.

While Micron has secured at least $100 billion in strategic customer agreements through 2030, history shows that boom cycles for memory companies are rarely sustainable for an extended period. Though ongoing HBM supply shortages may buoy Micron's pricing power and its stratospheric margins, the potential for increasing competition and/or an AI bubble-bursting event can't be overlooked.

SoundHound AI: Implied upside of 324%

The other revolutionary AI stock that can catapult higher, according to one Wall Street analyst, is voice AI solutions provider SoundHound AI. Scott Buck at H.C. Wainwright foresees SoundHound heading to $20 per share, equating to an implied upside of 324%!

Buck has consistently been one of SoundHound AI's most vocal advocates. He believes the company will successfully shift into new verticals, building on its agentic AI momentum in quick-serve restaurants and automobiles. This scalable approach should lead to high-margin enterprise contracts that generate positive EBITDA.

But unlike Micron, which has been wildly successful amid the AI infrastructure build-out, the applications-focused SoundHound AI has hit several stumbling blocks.

Arguably, the biggest issue has been SoundHound's ongoing losses. Although sales hit a record high of nearly $62 million in the June-ended quarter, the company's generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) loss was $42.8 million, and it burned through roughly $60 million in cash from its operations. SoundHound hasn't proven that its operating model is sustainable.

Additionally, SoundHound recently completed its all-stock acquisition of LivePerson. The shares issued to facilitate this deal, coupled with a $300 million at-the-market stock offering announced in May, have investors concerned about share-based dilution.

While SoundHound AI has a fast-growing and exciting operating model, the company still has a lot to prove.
