RBC Says In-line Q3 Results for Roche Could Trigger Selloff Amid High Valuation, Ownership

06:29 AM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- RBC Capital Markets expects Roche's (RO.SW) third-quarter results to come in higher than market forecasts but expressed concerns that in-line figures could lead to a selloff, citing the stock's high ownership and near all-time-high valuation. The research firm projects the Swiss drugmaker's revenue will reach 16.20 billion francs in the quarter, ahead of the Visible Alpha consensus of 15.78 billion francs, according to a Monday note. "We are ahead of consensus on the top-line (+2.7%) driven by broad-based Pharma strength (+1.9%), with Hemlibra (+5%), Polivy (+4%), and Alecensa (+4%) leading upside, complemented by Diagnostics (+1%). However, if numbers are in line, it may make for a tricky quarter given the stock is close to all-time highs. The key investor debate remains around giredestrant launch, mgmt has cautioned sampling could weigh on first-year sales and competitor readouts next year may temper enthusiasm," analysts wrote. Meanwhile, RBC identified the upcoming Krascendo-1 trial data presentation for divarasib in non-small cell lung cancer and the US regulatory decision for giredestrant's use as adjuvant treatment for breast cancer in the fourth quarter as among several potential catalysts for the company. The outperform-rated stock has a price target of 400 francs at RBC. Roche is set to release its third-quarter sales update on Oct. 22.
