If you had bought Halozyme Therapeutics on 16 October 2025 and simply sat tight, the outcome was striking. For Halozyme Therapeutics shareholders, the return over the past year was 81.8%, including dividends. Yet that result sat between very different starting views, from bulls arguing subcutaneous biologics would widen ENHANZE’s royalty base to bears warning about future pricing pressure and patent cliffs. If you were weighing those arguments back then, which risks and assumptions would have mattered most?
Narratives are how investors here put a case on the record, with explicit assumptions about revenue, margins and the multiple. Those assumptions imply an estimated Fair Value.
Halozyme Therapeutics has already moved. Pinpoint other ways to investigate the theme among 33 healthcare AI stocks.
The shares cost US$66.88 at the start of the period, and anyone looking at Halozyme Therapeutics then had to choose between two sharply different stories that still sounded reasonable on the facts available.
The bullish narrative put fair value at US$71.67, about 7% above the start price, and leaned on an assumption that ENHANZE adoption would support revenue growth of 18.7% a year with profit margins reaching 54.2%.
The bearish view set fair value at US$49.57, about 26% below the start price, and focused on the risk that ENHANZE dependence and future biosimilar competition could weaken biologic pricing and compress those high margins.
Halozyme Therapeutics then reported Q2 2026 revenue of US$480.999 million and net income of US$229.913 million, both above Q2 2025 levels. This supported the bullish focus on ENHANZE-driven top line and earnings. Net margin slipped from 50.7% to 47.8%, so the pure margin expansion element of that optimistic case remained unproven. Overall, the evidence cut both ways.
The useful takeaway is clear. When you weigh a high margin drug delivery story, track not just revenue and profit, but also the trend in net margin to see whether scale is strengthening or softening the thesis.
Halozyme Therapeutics trades at US$122 after gaining 81.8% over the past year. The selected Narrative’s Fair Value sits below the current price, suggesting that today’s level already reflects strong royalty income and very high profitability.
The key question is what has to keep working. A buyer at this level would be assuming that ENHANZE and Hypercon continue to win enough high quality partners and projects to offset rival subcutaneous platforms.
"The main requirement for the strategy to work is that the ENHANZE and Hypercon royalty platforms continue to attract high quality partners and new clinical programs at a pace that offsets rival technologies such as Alteogen’s ALT-B4, as well as any future pricing or regulatory pressure."
