Investor Ross Gerber thinks that a merger between Elon Musk-led enterprises Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) and Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) may be a foregone conclusion following the Tesla Roadster debut.
In a series of posts on the social media platform X on Thursday, the investor shared his take on the Roadster launch event. “So spaceX buys tesla this year,” the investor said, adding that the merger “has become obvious” following the Roadster’s reveal.
In a separate post, Gerber opined that the Roadster’s hovering technology, using SpaceX thrusters and a fan-based suction system held the car against the surface while upside down was “just for show.”
The Gerber Kawasaki Wealth Management co-founder also questioned what the price of the Roadster would be with the SpaceX thrusters and active aerodynamic system.
“Wonder what this is going to cost,” he said in the post. Gerber, during an exclusive conversation with Benzinga, had predicted that the Roadster would be a limited-run model.
Musk, following the Roadster’s reveal, shared a video on the social media platform X, showing the Roadster doing a barrel roll mid-air as it jumped over a row of Tesla vehicles, saying that flying cars were now real.
Tesla also revealed key information about the vehicle, which will be available in three trim levels: the base Performance trim, which requires a $50,000 reservation; the limited-run Thrust trim, which will offer under-1-second 0-60 times and the range-topping Rocket trim, which is an invite-only, non-road-legal vehicle that can fly.
The Roadster will be available in one paint shade called “Ano White” and, according to Musk, will enter production sometime in 2028.
Price Action: TSLA shares were up 3.44% to $374.92 during overnight trading on Thursday.
