Houston, Texas-based Chevron Corporation (CVX) engages in integrated energy and chemicals operations in the United States and internationally. The company has a market cap of $379.3 billion and operates through Upstream, Downstream, and All Other segments. CVX is expected to release its Q3 2026 earnings on Friday, Oct. 30, before the market opens.

Ahead of the event, analysts expect the company’s EPS to be $4.62 on a diluted basis, up 149.7% from $1.85 in the year-ago quarter. The company has exceeded Wall Street’s EPS estimates in each of its last four quarters.

For fiscal 2026, analysts project the company’s EPS to be $17.53, up 140.5% from $7.29 in fiscal 2025.

CVX stock has surged 45.7% over the past 52 weeks, outperforming the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) 16.2% rise, but lagging behind the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLE) 56.6% return during the same time frame.

Chevron’s robust momentum is supported by its strong market position, consistent long-term revenue growth, and solid free cash flow generation. The energy giant has delivered annual revenue growth of 6.3% over the past decade, reaching $215.3 billion. Its scale provides operating leverage as sales increase, while healthy cash flow gives it the flexibility to reinvest in its business and strengthen its competitive position.

On Oct. 8, Chevron shares jumped 3.4% as a Gulf tanker attack disrupted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and hurricane-related production halts curtailed Gulf of Mexico output. The resulting supply squeeze pushed Brent crude above $104 per barrel and WTI to $92, boosting expectations for higher oil prices and improved profitability for major energy producers.

Analysts are moderately bullish on CVX, with the stock having a “Strong Buy” rating overall. Among the 26 analysts covering the stock, 18 recommend a “Strong Buy,” three suggest a “Moderate Buy,” four suggest a “Hold,” and one analyst advises a “Strong Sell.” CVX’s average analyst price target is $226.26, indicating an upside of 1.9% from the current levels.
