UnitedHealth: Q3 Earnings Snapshot

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UNH) on Tuesday reported third-quarter profit of $4.11 billion.

On a per-share basis, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company said it had net income of $4.56. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $4.69 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.12 per share.

The largest U.S. health insurer posted revenue of $112.69 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $111.38 billion.

UnitedHealth expects full-year earnings to be $20.50 per share.
