The Zhitong Finance App learned that lithium stocks fell in early trading. As of press release, Ganfeng Lithium (01772) fell 6.53% to HK$28.06; Tianqi Lithium (09696) fell 4.37% to HK$26.26.

According to the news, on the morning of October 12, Guangji Institute's main lithium carbonate contract plummeted 9% to 10,08020 yuan/ton, officially falling below the 110,000 integer mark, retreating more than 48% from the May high of 209,800. On October 8, the Yichun Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment once again announced the proposed acceptance of the EIA for the Jianxiawo lithium mine. Chaos Tiancheng Futures points out that the process of resuming production in Jiaxiawo, which has an annual production capacity of about 100,000 tons of LCE, is progressing. If the follow-up process goes well, it is expected that the Jianxiawo lithium mine can resume production from the end of this year to the beginning of next year.

CITIC Securities believes that global lithium resource companies are resuming production and expanding production at an accelerated rate, supply-side expansion compounded market concerns about falling demand growth in the future, and that short-term high demand has failed to effectively support prices. The bank expects supply and demand in the global lithium market to turn into an excess of 38,000 tons in 2027, and the 2026Q4 lithium price operating range forecast is 10-150,000 yuan/ton. Subsequent price trends depend on improved demand expectations and additional risk of supply disturbances.
