Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure did not grab early 2026 headlines with a new refinery or big acquisition. The real flashpoint arrived later when quarterly filings showed total revenue of CA$552.1 million and net income of CA$15 million in Q2 2026. For Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure shareholders, the return from the start of the year was 388.6%, including dividends. If you were deciding on 1 January, what had to be true about low carbon fuel demand and refinery risks to make that payoff look reasonable?
Narratives are how investors here put a case on the record, with explicit assumptions about revenue, margins and the multiple. Those assumptions imply an estimated Fair Value.

The shares cost CA$5.26 at the start of the period, and Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure sat between two sharply different stories about its future.
The bullish case put Fair Value at CA$6.2. That view leaned on low carbon policy in Western Canada driving demand for renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel, tied to assumptions of 14.7% revenue growth, a 2.5% profit margin and a future P/E of 3.5x over three years.
The bearish argument pointed to refinery oversupply, high leverage and execution risk in new fuels, and set Fair Value at CA$2. It rested on 14.5% revenue growth, a 2.4% profit margin and a future P/E of 1.1x over the same period.
The sharp shift at Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure was the move from a CA$16.3 million loss in Q2 2025 to a CA$15 million profit in Q2 2026, alongside revenue at CA$552.1 million. A net margin of 2.7%, up from 4.8% in the red, leaned toward the optimistic thesis on profitability, although only over a single quarter.
The lesson for any refinery or fuel producer is clear. When a thesis hinges on cleaner fuel demand and refinery risk, it is important to track net margin alongside sales and see whether profitability moves toward or away from the story that underpins the investment case.
Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure now trades at CA$24.82, after a very large gain from the start of the year. The selected Narrative argues that its Fair Value sits above the current price, based on a more optimistic reading of its position in low carbon fuels.
Rather than focusing only on the recent rally, this Narrative leans on tight renewable diesel supply, regulatory credits and integration benefits. It argues that today’s price still does not fully credit the possibility of structurally higher margins and steadier cash flows from Tidewater's Western Canada clean fuel role.
"The analyst consensus notes increased Canadian renewable diesel demand and less U.S. competition lifting sales and prices. Yet this, the Narrative suggests, fails to fully account for the flywheel effect of Tidewater's growing role as a primary clean fuel supplier in Western Canada. In that view, long-term contract volumes could be cemented at higher price floors, structurally increasing cash flow stability and supporting multiple expansion."

You may be late to this rally, but that does not have to mean arriving late to every opportunity. Start with companies whose prices leave room for a different view of their future. Here are three trading below our estimates.
