Hog Weakness Continues on Thursday

Lean hog futures are slipping 25 to 70 cents in the front month at midday.  USDA’s national base hog price was at $72.54 in the Thursday AM report, back up 42 cents from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 31 cents on October 6 at $78.91. 

Export Sales data showed 26,872 MT of pork sales in the week of October 1 for 2026 shipment. Actual exports were tallied at 32,803 MT in that week, down 5.7% from the week prior.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was down 14 cents in the Thursday morning report, at $81.57. The loin, ham, and belly primals were the only reported lower. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Wednesday was estimated at 495,000 head, with the week to date total at 1.482 million head. That was 26,000 head above last week and 27,662 head larger than the same week last year.

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $76.225, down $0.700,

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $68.525, down $0.575

Feb 27 Hogs are at $69.650, down $0.275,
