Aramco, National Energy Services Reunited Team Up for Saudi Arabia's First Lithium Project

08:31 AM EDT, 10/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (SASE:2222), d/b/a Saudi Aramco, signed an agreement with US-based oilfield services provider National Energy Services Reunited to deliver a lithium extraction project in Saudi Arabia. The turnkey project will combine the state-owned oil giant's deep subsurface expertise and NESR's LiThara platform, which includes integrated pre-treatment, direct lithium extraction and carbonation technology, according to a Thursday release. Aramco's lithium demonstration project, the first in the country, aims to produce 2,000 tons per year of battery-grade lithium carbonate, with production expected to start in late 2027.
