AstraZeneca-Daiichi's Breast Cancer Therapy Datroway Wins Approval in China

06:58 AM EDT, 10/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Chinese regulators approved AstraZeneca (AZN.L, AZN.ST) and Daiichi Sankyo's Datroway to treat adult patients with unresectable or metastatic triple negative breast cancer who are not candidates for PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor therapy, according to a Thursday release. The approval is based on results from the Tropion-Breast02 phase 3 trial, where the TROP2-directed antibody drug conjugate Datroway showed a five-month improvement in median overall survival, compared with investigator's choice of chemotherapy. Median overall survival in patients treated with Datroway was 23.7 months, up from 18.7 months for patients receiving chemotherapy. The drug is approved in more than 35 countries and regions, including China, the European Union, Japan and the US under the same indication. It is currently being reviewed in Australia, Canada, Israel and Switzerland.
