12:45 AM EDT, 10/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Zealand Pharma's (ZEAL.CO) weight loss drug petrelintide met its primary endpoint in a phase 2 trial involving 220 participants with overweight or obesity and type 2 diabetes. Data from the phase 2 Zupreme-2 study showed that once-weekly subcutaneous injections of petrelintide led to statistically significant and clinically meaningful reductions in body weight from baseline in all three treatment groups compared with placebo after 28 weeks, according to a Wednesday release. The Danish biotechnology company and its Swiss partner Roche (RO.SW) plan to advance petrelintide into a phase 3a program comprising three trials involving a total of 7,000 participants. The trials will include people with obesity, both with and without type 2 diabetes, as well as those with established cardiovascular disease.
