10:02 AM EDT, 10/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- UK consumers affected by Google's alleged overcharging of Android app developers could end up receiving up to 1.2 billion pounds sterling in total payouts from the tech giant, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing lawyers representing a class action lawsuit against the Alphabet (ABEA.F) unit. Google allegedly violated British competition law by imposing a 30% surcharge on digital purchases, to the detriment of 20 million Android users in the UK, the lawyers reportedly said at the start of the trial at the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London earlier the same day. The trial is estimated to run for eight weeks, according to the tribunal's website. Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
