S&P Global: Hong Kong's PMI fell to 49.2 in September and has been in a contraction range for two consecutive months

The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to the latest data released by S&P Global on October 6, the Hong Kong Overall Economic Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) recorded 49.2 in September 2026, down 0.3 points from 49.5 in August, a new low since April 2026, and was in the contraction range below 50 for the second month in a row (greater than 50 represents expansion, and less than 50 represents contraction). The index for the same period last year was 50.4.

In terms of detailed data, the business output index rose slightly to 49.4 in September, up from 49.2 in August, but also recorded a contraction for the second month in a row; as for the new orders index, it rebounded from the previous month.
