08:14 AM EDT, 10/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, or UOKiK, suspects that Alphabet's (ABEA.F) Google is exploiting its dominant market position in its dealings with Polish media publishers, according to a Monday release. The regulator alleges that the US technology company failed to provide publishers with the required data to assess offers properly, creating an information imbalance that prevented fair negotiations over remuneration for the use of press articles in search results and other Google services. The watchdog therefore launched proceedings against Alphabet, Google, Google Ireland and Google Poland for suspected abuse of a dominant market position, a probe that can result in a fine of up to 10% of a company's turnover. Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
